Funeral Services for Mrs. Carolyn June “Shug” Curry, 83, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 10:00 a. m. in the Herb Clark Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kenneth McCarthick officiating. A committal service will be held later that day at the Omaha Cemetery in Omaha, Texas. Mrs. Curry passed away on December 8, 2016 at her home. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-7 pm at the funeral home.

“Shug” was born on June 23, 1933 in Tishomingo to H. H. Burris and Minnebell (Colbert) Burris. She graduated from Tishomingo High School and later attended nursing school, receiving her degree as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. “Shug” married William J. C. “Jake” Curry on May 17, 1952 and lived in Texas for several years before returning to Tishomingo in 1983, after the death of her husband. She had been a care giver to her family and friends for many years and was proud of her Chickasaw heritage.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty Fowler, Annabell Easterwood, and Rosie Clark, brothers, Calvin Burris, Cobb Burris, and Harrison Burris.

“Shug” is survived by two sons, Charlie Mac Curry and wife Christy of Ft. Worth, Texas and Kevin Ray Curry and wife Vanessa of Tucson, Arizona; her sister, Pat McCollum of Tishomingo; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
