Jerry Valdean Eaves (Class of 1954)
Oklahoma City, OK Age 75 May 9, 2011 Jerry Valdean Eaves was born Oct. 20, 1936 in Wewoka, OK to Lorraine and Vallie Eaves. He graduated high school at Tishomingo, OK in 1954. He was in the US Army from 1958-1960 and pursued a career in professional baseball in 1960, following in the footsteps of his father, Vallie, who played for the Chicago Cubs/White Sox 1935-1942. Jerry worked at Tinker AFB, OK from 1963-1992. After retirement he worked at the State Capitol as Sergeant of Arms from 1993-2000. He loved fishing, hunting and all sports. Jerry had a long history of organizing and coaching little league and American Legion baseball in the Midwest-Del City area. He passed away May 9, 2011 of heart failure at Okla. Heart Hospital. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Aloma Sue McGlocklin; son, Jerry, Jr. and wife, Beverly; daughter, Dana Turner and husband, Roger; 3 grandchildren, Carrie Turner, Jason Eaves and wife, Jessica, and Jessica Jay; 8 great grandchildren, Madelyn, Jack, Megan and Molly Eaves, Brayden Turner, Peyton and Caleb Jay and Riley Cupp. His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 13, 2011, at the Sunny Lane Chapel with interment following at Sunny Lane Cemetery. |
