Clarke I. Maxwell (Class of 1941)
Tishomingo, OK Age 92 October 27, 2015 Funeral Services for Mr. Clarke I. Maxwell, Jr., 92,of Tishomingo, Oklahoma will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Richard Sowder officiating, assisted by Reverend Larry Strouse. Interment will follow in the Tishomingo Cemetery. Mr. Maxwell was called by his Savior to come home on October 27, 2015 at the Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Clarke was born on April 7, 1923 at Drumright, Oklahoma to C. I. Maxwell and Alta M. (Faulkenstein) Maxwell. They moved to Tishomingo in his early years and he graduated from Tishomingo High School and then attended Murray State College. He served in the United States Army, 5th Armored Division in Europe and was awarded 5 Battle Stars. His division was closer to Berlin on the Elbe River at Madenberg, Germany than any other division, when the war in Europe ended. They were known as "Patton's Ghosts", 34th Tank Division. Clarke was raised in a Christian family and gave his life to Christ at the age of 10. He attended the Presbyterian Church until he met and married Clara West in 1977. He then joined the Nazarene Church in Tishomingo. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Clara on February 5, 2010, his sister, Helen, and a niece, Sharon. Clarke is survived by two step-sons and their wives, Jerry & Glenna West and James & Sheryl West, eleven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. |
