Stanley L. Reed was born On March 19, 1950 in Madill, Oklahoma to Calvin and Hazel (Sliger) Reed and passed from this life on May 16, 2014 in Denison, Texas at the age of 64.

Stan attended and graduated from Tishomingo High School. He began his career in the automobile industry in the early 1970’s and continued until his retirement.

Stan married Janet Harbert on September 5, 1970 and they were blessed with two children, Mitchell and Chanette. Stan was a member of the Oklahoma National Guard, FFA State Farmer and a devoted member of the Johnston County Jr. Livestock Association.

Stan was a member of the First Christian Church and he enjoyed golfing, and all sports, especially football, basketball and baseball.

Stan is survived by his loving and devoted family, wife Janet Reed of Durant, Oklahoma; children, Mitchell Reed and wife Jana of Arlington, Texas and Chanette Marshall and husband Steven of Rockwall, Texas; grandchildren Mack, Cash and Cooper Reed of Arlington, Texas and many extended family and a host of friends.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Hazel Reed; brother, Norman Reed and sisters, Patricia Gray and Shirley Winkler.

A celebration of Stan’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Murray State College Auditorium in Tishomingo. Brother-in-law Hershal Williams and Pastor Joey Landsdale will officiate. Interment will follow in Tishomingo Cemetery with Ronald Cole, Mike Lovett, Scotty McCarthick, Pat Lafevers, Luke Marshall, Benny Lewis, Eddie Brown, Jerry West, Fred Dunegan and Homer Don Stallings serving as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Lovett, Kevin Lovett, Rick Salee, Ken Lafevers, Kyle Lafevers, Kirk Lafevers and James Paul Stallings.

The family will receive friends at Brown’s Funeral Service in Durant on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
