Funeral Services for Mrs. Virginia Cox, 95, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 3:00 p. m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Dye officiating. Interment will follow in the Tishomingo Cemetery. Mrs. Cox passed away on July 13, 2016 at the Blue River Health Care facility in Tishomingo.

Virginia was born on July 21, 1920 in Ravia, Oklahoma to Clarence Thomas and Fannie Ellen (Hill) Thomas. She grew up in this area and graduated from Tishomingo High School in 1939. She married Woodrow T. Cox on October 10, 1946 in Gainesville, Texas and they lived their married life in Johnston County. Virginia worked as a beautician for several years and then for the Tishomingo School System, from which she retired in 1994, after 28 years of service. She attended the First United Methodist Church and was a member of the “Terrific Ten” social group.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on December 7, 1995; her sister, Viola Harbert and two brothers, Richard and Halsell Thomas.

Virginia is survived by three daughters, Jenna Orr and husband Glen of Tishomingo, Linda Carpenter and husband Tommy of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Coletta Sutterfield and husband Jerry of Dallas, Texas; her brother, Bill Thomas and her sister, Lou Niblett, both of Tishomingo; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers for the service will be: Glen Orr, Tommy Carpenter, Jerry Suttrfield, T. G. Orr, Howdy Carpenter and Dan Sutterfield.
