Funeral Services for SFC (US Army Ret.) Larry R. Winkler, 61, of Mill Creek, Oklahoma will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mill Creek with Rev. Claud Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Ravia Cemetery in Ravia, Oklahoma with Military Honors provided by the United States Army Honor Guard from Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Mr. Winkler passed away on Wednesday, November 11th, at the Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Larry was born on August 1, 1948 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma to Edward Lee Chaney and Grace Weaver Chaney. He served in the United States Army for over 20 years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Larry married Clara Ward on June 15, 1977 in Dayton, Ohio. After his discharge, he worked in the Oklahoma City area for Deaconess Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital and at Tinker Air Force Base, all in the shipping and receiving department. He returned to Johnston County in 2006, after having lived in Oklahoma City for several years.

He was preceded in death by parents, Jeff & Christine Winkler; sisters, Lucille, Avery, Martha, Caroline and Patsy; and brother, Joe.

Larry is survived by his wife Clara, of the home; his children, Tammy of Pennsylvania, Lisa of Lindsay, OK, Lori of Sherman, TX, Larry II of Ofallon, MO, Jimmy of Mill Creek and Kenny of Sherman; his grandchildren, Joseph, Brittany, Ally, Robyn, Shey, Mackensey, Mathew and Tanner; his sisters, Louise of Midwest City, Veo of Oklahoma City, Coqueece of Thomas, OK, Sue of Edmond, Judy of Tishomingo and Patsy of Wichita Falls, TX; his brothers, Sam of Ft. Smith, AR, Eddie of Mill Creek and J. B. of Tishomingo; other relatives and friends.
