Byers Columbus “Hot Shot” Baken.

Lifelong resident of Tishomingo, OK, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020 in Durant, OK from complications of Covid 19. Hot Shot was born February 25, 1965 in Talihina, OK to Jesse and Georgianne (Madison) Baken. Hot Shot attended and graduated high school from Tishomingo High School with the class of 1985. He was an awesome football player and loved playing on Friday nights. He was also a dedicated worker. He began his work career at Mahard and from there went to the Chickasaw Nation and finally became transport and fleet manager at the Choctaw Nation. Everyone knew Hot Shot as he had many friends, both personal and work related. He enjoyed watching OU Football, riding motorcycles and yardwork.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Susan Skelton, of the residence; children, Jordan Baken, James Poe, Jessie James, Chance Skelton and Whitney and Eric Sons. Grandchildren Avery Poe, Wesley Sons, Zoey Skelton, Glen James and Kashlyn Sons. Siblings- Greg Baken, Jason Collins, George Baken, Censi Childs, Naomi Baken and Cora “Cookie” Shrouder, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins both here and in South Dakota.

Hot Shot is preceded in death by his son Rusty Baken, brother, Robert Baken, Parents Jesse and Georgianne Madison Baken. Paternal Grand parents Deseth Baken and Lillian Columbus Baken, maternal grandparents George Madison and Luci Young of South Dakota. Family night will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020 from 6-8pm at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home in Tishomingo, OK. Services will be held at 2pm Sunday, September 6, 2020 at DeArman- Clark. Services will be officiated by Randy Wade and Allen Beck.

Interment will follow at Seely Cemetery, Connerville, OK. Meal immediately following at the Temple of God Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.dearmanfuneralhome.com. Arrangements under the direction of DeArman-Clark Funeral Home. Those serving as pallbearers will be Jordan Baken, James Poe, Eric Sons, Johnny James, Jana Boykin, Michael Perkins
